Ever tried Kale? 

It's delicious served raw in salads, on sandwiches or even cooked! 

Kale is a form of cabbage in which the central leaves do not form a head. Leaves can be green or purple and there are many varieties! Kale is very high in beta-carotene, vitamin K, vitamin C, Lutein, zeaxanthin, rich in calcium and a good source of carotenoids. Kale grows well into winter, freezing well and tasting sweeter and more flavorful after a frost. Kale is enjoyed in many countries all over the world today! Like broccoli, kale contains "sulforaphane (particularly when chopped or minced), a chemical with potent anti-cancer properties. Note: boiling decreases the level of sulforaphane; however, steaming, microwaving or stir-frying does not result in significant loss. Kale is a source of "indol-3-carbinol", a chemical which boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells. Do you need any more of a reason to try kale today?! Come on out to the Ramona Certified Farmers’ Market this weekend for fresh, locally-grown kale. We have four different varieties!
